When the Krakow-based founders of Therapify first came with the idea of using artificial intelligence and big data to support mental health professionals, it raised many eyebrows owing to the revolutionary concept. From the past few months, its core team is working hard to turn the idea into reality. The company officially launched the MVP of Therapify app on App Store and Google Play. The current set of functionalities allows mental health professionals to connect and communicate with their patients, but also to assign therapeutical tasks and collect daily data about patient’s well-being. Founders say that they are constantly working on developing new features that will allow specialists to get more and deeper insights about patient’s mental condition which will be further analysed with correlation to external factors as sun insolation, physiological activity, diet or time spent in social media.
As Therapify are OMGKRK’s community members, it was easy to catch up with them and bring you the updates.
Tell us how have your fundraising efforts shaped up so far?
We have finalized the first two investments for a total amount of PLN 100.000 in cash and PLN 120.000 in services from two private companies. We are also happy to announce that we have established cooperation with the following institutions:
- “Kuźnia Psychoterapii” – the association of psychotherapists and psychiatrists in Cracow.
- “Proximed” – a private psychiatric-psychotherapeutic center employing over 30 specialists (psychotherapist and psychiatrists)
We are working on an agreement with Babiński Psychiatric Hospital in Cracow. We are also negotiating the terms of cooperation with one private university in Warsaw where we plan to make research on effects of using Therapify during an actual therapy process.
Why did you start working on idea of Therapify? Who is in your core team?
The main reason due to we started working on Therapify was the fact that all of us have experienced the harm that mental disorders caused in our close family. We combined our personal experience with relatives struggling with mental disorders with our experience in the IT industry and psychology knowledge to develop something that can help both mental health professionals and their patients.
We recorded a video where you can watch our story and see what are we going to do with Therapify app.

We also participated in two conferences – TNW Conference in Amsterdam and InfoShare in Gdańsk where in both cases we won tickets and a booth for a startup from ‘health’ category.
What is next in your plan and the latest update on the app?
Developing the product based on our users’ feedback and acquiring first paying customers – these two things are currently the most important for us and we concentrate our efforts on that.
We decided that we don’t want to charge the group of first ~20 mental health professionals. Instead of payment, we have an agreement with them for regular meetings for in-depth feedback and UX workshops. We closely cooperate with them, we meet them each week and we gather feedback that allows us to develop our application to be tailormade to their needs. We have a list of improvements and new features that we’re going to implement soon.
Our main aim is to acquire first paying customers in October and continiue to grow during next months.
We’re looking for investment (we want to raise 225K Euro / 1 mln PLN) so we think that first revenue and traction will be very important
Isn’t Therapify making headlines? How has the media reacted?
We had the pleasure to participate in the discussion on telemedicine solutions with Joanna Dróżdż-Gradzikiewicz MD from Comarch Healthcare and Łukasz Cichocki MD from Babiński Psychiatric Hospital, where we talked about the possibilities and risks associated with the use of technology in medicine. We shared our view on how our application can help psychiatrists and psychotherapists in their daily practice and how people with mental disorders can benefit from using Therapify.
