Projects we’re submitting for City’s NGO competition – your input needed

Intro: Each year City of Cracow runs a competition for NGOs aiming to help those supporting entrepreneurship and economic growth. Below is the list of projects that we’ll submit this year.

Thing to remember: although very close this list isn’t the list of priorities for the Foundation. It was compiled in this form and order to fit City’s competition description. All the points come from the long lists of activities that we want to do to support startups. We just chose five that fit the bill the best.

  1. Foreigners’ assistant
Hire an English/Ukrainian speaking assistant helping foreigners set up business in Cracow. Write template documents for sole proprietorship business, limited company registration, and a simple angel investment agreement. Make all the documents available in Polish, English, and Ukrainian with plain-text description of what’s what.
  2. Venture cafe
Two parts to this: get local, national, ale international angel investors to visit Cracow regularly every x weeks for local demo day. Secondly: source the best startup projects for the demo day, organize mentor session beforehand, train public speaking, help with deck structure, content, and design.
  3. Student organizations’ support for entrepreneurship
Assess current state of university student organizations with respect to awareness of and support for entrepreneurship/startups, make recommendations for change, organise a workshop about good practice, organise a workshop with specialists from UK and USA. Thanks to Richard for this one.
  4. Cracow startup report
Research every Cracow startup company/project available today and draw conclusions. Assess what we need, who we are, how can we be helped, etc.
  5. Virtual entity
There are many event organizers who struggle to get sponsorship money or public grants because they don’t have (or need) legal entity. #OMGKRK Foundation want to have a process in place where we can create dedicated account number for each such case, be able to sign agreements and issue invoices, etc. Act as legal entity for this organization. This one carries a little bit of legal weight to it, but if there is budget for it, we can for sure construct something that won’t get Foundation into trouble and help event organizers get off the ground.
